Welcome to another DTES RAP collection snapshot! You can find our previous collection snapshot from November 2020 here. Once again, this is a place to explore what sort of items have been added to the portal recently. Over the last few months, we have focused on adding items to less represented topics, including 22 new items in the Public Spaces topic and seven items in Youth and Young Adults. The biggest areas of growth continue to be academic articles and items addressing the topics of Health and Wellbeing and Substance Use. To learn more about the topics, categories, and genres of items you can find on the RAP, you can visit the definitions tab of our help page.

The DTES RAP contains over 1106 items

We’ve recently passed the 1,000 item mark. As of August 4, we’ve reached 1,106 items, and we are continuing to add more every week. Most items listed on the RAP are free to use through UBC cIRcle or other online digital repositories, while other items are free use, which means they are a public resource available online. We also have restricted use items which may require paid access. Visit our help section if you need help accessing a restricted use item.

Health and Wellbeing has the most items of any topic in the RAP.

The DTES RAP has 15 topics to help you find items you are looking for. Some topics have many more items than others, but we are currently working to add items to the topics that have the fewest: Older People, Media Representation, and Early Childhood and Families. If you have suggestions for new topics to consider or items to add, please let us know.

The most populated category of the DTES RAP is academic research.

Each item on the DTES RAP fits into at least one category, which tells you the context in which an item was created. Academic research is the largest category, but we are always adding more community materials like zines, podcasts, and infographics.

Scholarly articles are the most common genre in the DTES RAP.

The DTES RAP has 17 different genres—including podcasts, scholarly articles, and reports. A genre tells you the form or style of a particular item in the collection.

One of our goals for the DTES RAP is to create opportunities and spaces for sharing and learning between community members, researchers, community organizations, students, and others. If you have or know of an item that you think should be included on the DTES RAP, please contact us to suggest it.
