Critical Review of Substance Use Focused Anti-Stigma Campaigns

Status: Completed

Project Lead: Scott Neufeld

Two studies involving people with lived and living experience of stigmatized/criminalized substance use and other intersecting marginalized identities critically analyze substance use focused anti-stigma campaigns from across Canada. Eight focus groups conducted in the DTES in Fall 2019 involved discussions of BC's "Stop Overdose" anti-stigma campaign and Health Canada's "End Stigma" campaign. A large-scale review of 134 campaigns identified from 2009-2020 across Canada was also conducted in collaboration with the study's community advisory board (CAB).
