The Outcomes for Patients Accessing Addiction Care (OPAC) study is a five-year study that is focused on improving British Columbia’s addiction treatment system. More specifically, the OPAC study seeks to understand who is accessing addiction care at St. Paul’s Hospital, and what happens to participants following hospital discharge. The study involves a onetime interview-administered question (approximately 45 minutes). Participants also provide consent for the study team to conduct annual linkages to health and administrative databases to get health information. Results from this study will be used to create better addiction treatment policies and services for people who have a substance use disorder and access medical care.
