Description

This is a chapter in the book, Critical Futures: Community-Engaged Research in a Time of Crisis and Social Transformation. Critical Futures explores the evolving landscape of community-engaged research (CER). The book brings together leading scholars, community researchers, and activists to examine the intersection of CER with social justice, decolonization, and transformation. This chapter builds on Research 101: A Manifesto for Ethical Research in the Downtown Eastside. It provides an update on developments in research production and ethical review for the Downtown Eastside. It emphasizes the necessity of system change at the level of community organizations, researcher training, and local institutional research ethics boards (REBs).
